Hello, it’s me (…again)

Yep, another post. I didn’t like the taste of negativity that was left after I published my last post so here’s something lighter.

I have been waiting patiently for Pokemon Go and TBH it’s driving me mad! Actually, I was even considering hunting for a Game Boy Advanced SP or any other Game Boy model that can play the old cartridges. I have a Red Version that is sitting quietly in my desk drawing waiting for my return. It beckons…

You’d think that with all the comics that I’ve purchased from Comixology or the audiobooks from Audible that I’d have enough things to keep me occupied until Pokemon Go arrives. Well, I do have enough things to keep me occupied. The problem is, I just really gotta (Pokemon) Go and catch ’em all! (that was a really lame attempt at wit/humor and I apologize)

I recently bought a smaller powerbank (or what other people in the world call a “battery pack”) for days when I go to the mall and don’t need to lug around my 13,000mAh unit. It’s the size of a pack of Mentos gum (so handy!). But I’m pretty sure I’ll use my bigger one when I play Pokemon Go. HAHA.

The stock market’s been doing pretty good. I watched a documentary some time ago on YouTube about young rich kids (that actually earned their fortune as opposed to mooching off their parents) and one of them got rich by trading in the stock market. I don’t plan on trading full-time (since that a risk I’m not prepared for), but eventually when my profits are a good deal more than the amount I invested initially, I may play around a bit. Would becoming a full-time Pokemon trainer be possible if I got really good at trading stocks?? Hmmm… Important life question right there.

I feel like there are a lot of things I’ve forgotten to update you guys about. Like how I’ve ditched wearing jeans because OMG my waistline ballooned. My mom introduced me to the wonderful world of leggings/slacks (should they be called ‘sleggings’? ). They look like slacks, but they’re stretchy like leggings. I love them sooooo much. But they don’t really serve as motivators to get back into shape (my jeans motivated me to keep my belly in check by not being wearable after eating…).

Sometimes I’m tempted to use my YouTube channel to publish mini vlog entries, but then I remember that I don’t like showing my face and that I can’t go on random hiatuses like I can with this blog. HAH! Anyway, I think I’ve got the negativity out of my system now. Is Pokemon Go out where you live? Or are you waiting like I am? Leave a comment in the comments section. I’d love to hear from you. 🙂

Dress To Impress (Or not. Whatever. I’m not yo momma.)

I am currently listening to Mindy Kaling’s audiobook Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (and other concerns), and I realized that she is in fact my spirit animal.

I want her level of confidence. I’m currently trying to build mine by power dressing. Starting with my shoes. I have now decommissioned my faithful Chucks and have replaced them with 5 pairs of shoes from Aerosoles. I know this may seem extreme (I mean, come on 5 pairs!), but if you know my shopping habits you’ll see that this is normal. Those 5 shoes are gonna last me for a couple of years.

I wore the pair with the shorter heels yesterday, and I felt totally boss. LOL. Today I’m wearing comfy flats. My mom and uncle were so relieved to see me wearing something other than my Chucks. Really? Was it really so bad? Anyhoo, I don’t plan on retiring my superhero shirts just coz of the girly shoes. They’re part of my power dressing. I guess you could say they’re essential to my superpower dressing. Ho ho ho! XD I slay myself.

That’s all for today. Go and check out Mindy’s audiobook!

My impending burnout, and Audible’s Win-Win Sale

Work has been quite stressful lately. I have so many tasks/roles to juggle and it can get overwhelming. But then this is what college trained me for. The stakes are different now, but not much higher. There aren’t any holidays this month. I think that’s another reason for my stress build-up.

And because of that stress, my will power to keep from spending has been depleted. I bought a cake coz what the hell, and I bought audiobooks coz SALE! XD

Audible’s Win-Win Sale has 200+ titles for $4.95 each. I decided to look through the list of books on sale earlier today. I managed to limit my selection to 5 books. They are:

Emma by Jane Austen
Little Bee: A Novel by Chris Cleave
Peter & Max: A Fables Novel by Bill Willingham
The Satanic Verses by Salman Rushdie
The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro

The cost of these books totals at $169.35 ($118.54 if you have an Audible membership). But because they were all at $4.95 each so I only paid $24.75 in total. I have a Platinum Membership (which allows me 2 credits) at $22.95/month. So you see, getting 5 books at a price that is only a little more than what I pay for my 2 monthly books is quite a steal if you think about it. Don’t get me wrong, I use my credits wisely too. I have numerous lectures and books in my wish list that cost over $30 each. I save every time. (Audible should sponsor me or something LOL)

I’m thinking about visiting a mall soon. But that can wait. I’ve got reading/listening to do. 😉

Audible, Anna Akana, and Life Updates

As much as it humiliates me to admit this, but only recently had I figured out how to play the audiobooks I got from Audible. >_<

If you wanna know the back story, read on. Otherwise, skip to the next paragraph. I was on YouTube one day and I stumbled onto a video (more like audio with a still image) of Benedict Cumberbatch reading poetry. Of course I kept searching for more. I soon stumbled onto audiobooks read by him. Each audiobook was chopped into 4 parts. You can imagine my desperation to have them. So I converted the "videos" into MP3s and then tried to put them together. Unfortunately, there were parts missing in between the pieces. So I searched for other possible sources. I found that the audiobook was available on Audible. I downloaded it and synched my Kindle. Alas, since I still can't register my Kindle I couldn't play the audiobook on it. It was just there. I was devastated. I was so close, yet so far. Eventually I forgot about it.

So after discovering that Audible had an app for the iPad, a flash of mental lightning illuminated my mind. My audiobooks! I quickly downloaded the app and logged with my Audible account details. And sure enough, the 2 audiobooks that I'd "purchased" from in the site were there and playable! I cried tears of bliss! I say "purchase" because I got the 2 audiobooks (Sherlock Holmes: The Rediscovered Railway Mysteries, and Other Stories by John Taylor, and The Complete Stories of Sherlock Holmes) for FREE. They were worth $12.27 and $43.95 respectively.

'How is this possible?' you ask. Well, if you're a new member, you get a 1 month membership for free, as well as a free audiobook. With that membership, you get 1 credit. 1 credit = 1 book. So for my free audiobook, I selected the Railroad Mysteries, while my credit I used to get the complete stories. I have since then purchased other audiobooks. XD

I'm pretty much an Internet lurker these days. I keep updated with the outside world via my Facebook timeline, my Twitter feed, and… Well that's pretty much it. I get news off those sites when people post links. Plus I follow news on Twitter. I stumbled onto one of Anna Akana's videos thanks to the link of the Thought Catalog article a lot of my friends shared on FB. I didn’t watch it immediately, but when I saw the number of people sharing it (as well as their comments), I just had to watch. Right after watching it, I quickly went on an Anna Akana video viewing binge. I effin’ love her.

A lot has happened at work. But I double that’ll interest any of you. So I’ll just tell you that we’re getting a lot of new members on the team. It’s getting really hard to keep track of all the new faces.

As far as my life goes, I recently dropped a bomb on my parents when I told them of my plans 3 years from now. My mom took it pretty hard at first, but now she’s back to normal. I think she pushed it to the back of her mind. My dad seems pretty cool with it. But then again, I could pretty much do whatever and he wouldn’t react so much.

I won’t divulge what that life decision is just yet. I wanna see that things are taking shape before I scream it from the mountains. But everything I do from this point onwards is with that goal in mind. Yeah. It’s pretty life-changing.
